SmogShoppe

We are so lucky that we get to come back to the SmogShoppe again just a week after our last wedding here. Can you believe what happened?!? It rained ten minutes before the ceremony was supposed to take place! The horror but the SmogShoppe was so on top of it and all thanks goes to the amazing wedding planner Amber Gustafson with Amber Events who had umbrellas ready for the guests but thank goodness they were not needed.

After ten short minutes of rain, the sun broke through for a glorious ceremony. Check Amber out if you are looking very a really detailed and organized wedding planner, I have worked with her a few times already and the woman is on top of it! Check out these header and footers, we love the white background, they turned out great! The bride designed them herself.

The girls had so much fun in the Photobox!

It’s too bad the Darth mask covers up your face but it is so awesome in the photos, isn’t it?

This is Amber and her helpers!

Here are the bride and groom. So cute!

A year ago today I got to marry the love of my life, quite possibly the world’s most romantic man. I woke up to the most amazing surprise where Terence strung up over 80 photos from our wedding on red yarn all throughout our house….here is the video he made for me of my wonderful anniversary gift.

Jerry Yoon.

An deep, heartfelt thanks to our photographer Jerry Yoon, whose works is breath-taking and for my husband (a photographer) to choose Jerry, says a lot of Jerry’s work. I will be sure to put the actual files up from our wedding soon so you potential brides to hire Jerry and see the SmogShoppe in greater detail as you choose a venue. Be sure to visit Jerry’s site for his latest works, you will gasp and be amazed that there is a photographer out there who is not only 1) mind-blowingly talented but also 2) super cool and takes photography as a true art form. Our first meeting with Jerry, he talked about how his process and how he is frustrated that he isn’t working hard enough and capturing what he sees–Terence and I fell in love with Jerry right away and we were thinking “Seriously? This amazing work and he doesn’t feel like it’s enough? We like it!” Jerry captures the essence of the moment and the feelings that many photographers miss. And with his partner in crime, Ingrid (who is now his fiancee, they just go engaged) they are unstoppable!

Some of Jerry’s recent works off his blog.

We heart Jerry!

I just found out that we are featured on Junebug Real Weddings ! Junebug Weddings is great website and resource for brides looking for ideas and vendors, I used them a lot when we planned our wedding last year. This was for Sarah and Raymond’s wedding in March at Cafe Pinot, be sure to see my blog entry about that wedding below. I am glad they mention the bridesmaid’s designer because those black silk dresses were so beautiful! It was a truly beautiful wedding and the photographs from Caroline Tran Photography came out so well! Caroline and her husband are lots of fun, I see them a lot which means they are popular! This black and white photo of Sarah and Raymond does well to convey how cool they are! They are so cute together and had so much fun at their wedding, which I love to see.

SmogShoppe

Our third SmogShoppe wedding in a row this past month and I love it every time. The venue is amazing and reminds me that I need to post our wedding photos so you guys can get the full appreciation of how amazing that place is.

Shannon and Adam had a very unique format for their wedding, instead of a traditional sit-down dinner, they had a prime rib bar, a sushi bar and Pink’s Hot Dogs, all so yum! The bride’s brother performed the ceremony and everything had a very casual and comfortable feeling. See my photos below of the venue–the flowers were beautiful! Everyone had fun and we are so used to setting up the Photobox at the SmogShoppe, it feels like coming home each weekend. The guests loved the Photobox and the photos show it!

The footer is the exact water label that was on all the bottled water and the bride’s mom sent us the label beforehand and we designed it into their footer.

The bride with her sister, so pretty the two of them.

These were all the kids in the wedding, how cute are they?

That frame always looks good!

This guy was in there forever…by himself. We got worried for a bit but these are photos are great!

The lovely bride and groom.

SmogShoppe

Some brides you just click with and I loved Eileen, her and I must have exchange like 100 e-mails as I helped her plan this from Chicago. Her wedding was one of the most beautiful I have seen at the SmogShoppe to date. Think yellow and gray,so pretty and they are such a stylish and beautiful couple. Eileen and Roland were so, SO sweet, Roland (the groom!) was running around trying to find me a chair to sit on! Can you believe how sweet they are?

I am biased as I got married there but the SmogShoppe is magical, it’s this hidden oasis that takes your breath away. I didn’t take any photos as Terence was doing another event downtown but check out Caroline Tran’s website for the photos as she was their photographer. Caroline and I have been running across each other more and more and she does amazing work.

The bride and groom, I love these two.

I do have the specifics of Eileen’s wedding though–

Wedding Team:

Wedding planners: One Four Three. Melinda and Paula were amazing, it all ran seamlessly.
DJ: DJ PJ, by far the BEST I have heard at any weddings but I am partial to hip hop so that should be your thing too if you want to hire him.
Food: Paper Palate. They did this take on southern food with an Asian twist, really interesting. All the food was served on platters to share family-style. I like it!
Dress: Vera Wang, mermaid style, so beautiful. Eileen was so sweet and I just want to pick her up and hug her and squeeze her.
Photographer: Caroline Tran She is so cute, she tried taking a Photobox photo with her new yellow shoes, see below for her attempt!
Site Manager: TACT. They are a package deal with SmogShoppe but if you get married there, you will love in love with Loop who runs the whole show. He is THE best!

Eileen and Roland with their friends.

How awesome are those wigs? Two of Roland’s groomsmen bought them just for the wedding and I ended up buying the wigs from them because they offered!

Eileen with her girls.

E + R and their friends. I love it when the bride and groom get to take lots of photos. We were there all 6 hours so they had plenty of time to visit the Photobox.

Beverly Hills Four Seasons

Kristen is shy and super sweet. She had these great black booties on with wicked heels and this really pretty grey sweater with long sleeves that she pulled over her fingers. Lauren asked Kristen how she wanted to be proposed to and she was coy and hopefully they will air her answer on Extra.

Here are the PhotoboxLA photos of the Twilight cast on the Extra TV site.

———
Terence and I had so much fun today. We’ve never done a press junket before and it was exciting!

So Lauren Sanchez interviewed the cast of Twilight Eclipse which will be released on June 30th.
Each interview took anywhere from 6-8 minutes depending on if it was a solo interview (Kristen, Rob, Taylor) or groups of 3 for the rest of the cast.

After each interview Lauren got the cast to go into the Photobox to take photos, which was a pleasant surprise to the cast who really loved it (especially the groups of 3).

More photos to come and I will try to includes parts of the interview as I remembered them.

The interviews will be shown all this week on Extra starting on Monday, June 14th. There should be a plug for PhotoboxLA, so stayed tuned!

Annenberg Community Beach House

If you want to get married on the beach and then have your reception with an ocean view, this is the place to do it. It does feel a bit like a hotel ball room but the view of the Santa Monica beach is amazing. Julia is such a fun bride, she loved the Photobox and kept pulling her friends in to take photos with her. So Julia wanted identical strips, which the guests cut in half–half for them and half for Julia and Jeff, which the guests glued on a card for the couple with a message.

I mean, come on, look at how cute Julia is!

Julia with her parents, adorable!

Love this photo, where the guy puts his head through the frame. Genius!

So much fun.

The guests were really quite creative.

Our first photos of the dinner.

Okay, wait for it….I am in touch with a couple of senior producers for Extra TV to bring the Photobox to the …

….Twilight:Eclipse press junket. TWILIGHT! Rob and Kristen! I think it’s going to happen. We’re supposed to get the cast inside the Photobox for photos. How exciting is that? Yes, I am a grown woman but I do like the movies. Stayed tune for updates.

Upper Las Virgenes Reserve Space

So you drive for about 15 minutes through wild, tall grasses and you wonder where you are going. There are cute little hand-painted wooden signs saying “you’re almost there” and “we promise a cold drink!” posted every 5 minutes. Then you arrive at this beautiful house, like a winery and there are tables set up in the yard and lights in the trees. It was such a beautiful setting. Then when the sun sets you get an incredible view of the city. If you want a picnic in the country-side type wedding, you should check out this venue. And they had a bar-b-q place cater the food, it was amazingly yummy.

The beautiful bride and groom. The photographer was taking photos of the couple so the curtain was pulled open on the side.

An undisclosed location in Los Angeles.

08 May 10

Kim + Tom. Tom rocks the bunny ears.

There were so many fashionable people and amazing clothes that I was getting whiplash the first hour trying to look at everyone’s clothes and shoes. Which were Philip Lim and Christian Louboutin all the time. Philip was there, I wanted to meet him but I thought he should enjoy himself without getting trampled on by fans.

Kim (style director for Philip Lim) and her bridesmaids wore the same outfits, these white pants suits with a Vietnamese flair. Oh wow, they were amazing. Kim’s just had a train to distinguish her as the bride. Just fabulous. Then she changed into this tiered, tasseled white dress that was amazing and of course her bridesmaids changed too. I heard them give speeches and I think Philip Lim designed all the clothes for the bride and wedding party. The dinner space was incredible, with two long tables with 100 guests at each table. Tall vases and tree branches with white flowers dotting the whole room. To die for!

The Photobox was over-run during cocktail hour which was in a smaller ballroom outside the bigger ballroom. When I say ballroom, imagine like British aristocrat ballroom with lush sofas strewn everywhere and gold and crystal chandeliers everywhere. It was like a movie set. Yes, that is what it was like. As I wrote in my earlier post, we sadly cannot mention the name of the location because of how private the club members are. That is LA speak for famous….

Photobox photos coming soon after we redact the location name!

But here are a few that Terence shot. Terence is amazing with the camera.

Here is Kim getting into the Phtobox.

Kim and her bridesmaids in the Photobox.

Kim and her brides-man (who was very good at taking care of everything for Kim).

Kim’s family LOVED the Photobox. Her cousin Chase, in the purple boa asked me for a link to all the photos the next day. He was cool and his daughter, so cute.

Kim’s people wrote out all the guests’ names on a huge mirror, how creative is that?

Our Photobox signature bunny ears. Love.

Here are some individual shots from inside the Photobox:

This is Frank, the groom’s nephew, he was really cute and loved the Photobox.

This girl in the aqua dress was in many of our photos, great dress–here with her mom.

The couple from Hong Kong who might start PhotoboxHK?!?

Frank with his sister. Frank took so many Photobox shots, he was teaching all the guests what to do once they got into the Photobox. So cute.
